Colour Confidence in Textiles – HunterLab is your #1 colour measurement solution.

Textiles have shaped human civilization for centuries. The word itself — 'textile' — comes from the Latin 'textilis', meaning 'to weave.'

We began with natural fibres like cotton and wool. Then, the industrial revolution introduced synthetic options — nylon, polyester, rayon — redefining how we make and use fabrics.

Today’s textile production is a multi-stage journey — from fibre generation to final inspection. Every stage — carding, spinning, dyeing, finishing — shapes how the fabric looks, feels, and performs. A small variation early in the process can disrupt the final result. Precision matters — especially with colour.

There’s a common myth in the industry: that if the lab dip matches, the production run will too. But real-world manufacturing is far more dynamic. Variables like raw materials, machine settings, and even humidity can cause shifts in color. That’s why colour quality control must happen throughout production. HunterLab instruments also use K/S for dye strength and ΔE2000/ΔECMC tolerances — to go beyond simple ΔE and catch the real shifts.

At HunterLab, we took a bold step. We chose not to offer computer colour-matching systems. With over 50 variables affecting outcomes, chasing perfection in the lab isn’t practical. Instead, we focus on what helps manufacturers detect and correct deviations on the fly.

Our success in the #denim industry proves the value of this approach. In Pakistan, we introduced reliable, large-area color measurement instrument, the Agera L2, tailored for indigo-dyed denim. Soon, major brands like Levi’s® required our systems for their suppliers. Why? Because they work — simply and consistently. Our 0/45° optical geometry improves human–instrument agreement on textured fabrics.

Our solutions cover the entire textile chain. In the lab, use Agera® L2 for advanced textile quality check on bulky, irregular or textured sample; and use ColorFlex® L2 for routine checks on smooth, flat samples. For portable spot checks, use MiniScan® EZ. On the production floor, the SpectraTrend® HT delivers continuous, real-time colour monitoring.

For denim manufacturers, HunterLab provides an advanced add-on software to EasyMatch® QC called EasyGroup®.
EasyGroup automates the grouping of shade batches and determines the most efficient cutting order. It converts precise color data into objective groupings and optimized light to dark or best fit sequences. The result is consistent, brand-approved fabric batches that reduce recuts and rework. With EasyGroup, denim producers can streamline shade sorting, increase production speed, and confidently deliver uniform color every time.

Colour touches every part of textile production — from cotton whiteness to final fabric shade. Monitoring throughout the process means fewer errors, less waste, and better quality.

The big idea? Colour control isn’t one team’s job — it’s everyone’s. By embedding colour measurement throughout production, manufacturers improve consistency, reduce rework, and protect their brand.

At HunterLab, we help textile companies move with speed, stability, and confidence. Thanks for watching!
